Schools of Tomorrow - Today.

A little time on-line can pay huge dividends in terms of becoming more aware of the innovative ideas and practices that some schools are embracing as we make our way deeper into the 21st Century. The terms "Future School" and "School of the Future" have become buzz words in the education profession as school boards, administrators, teachers and other stakeholders try to adopt best practices based on the most recent data and research. The US based "Alt School" is embracing student centered learning by creating synergies between students, educators, entrepreneurs, code writers and design teams. The goal for the organization is to create a platform in which student's learning becomes individualized using algorithms and mentorship. A combination of personalized and project based learning is the methodology Alt Schools seek to implement. I admire the innovation and efforts of Alt School and wonder how seamlessly this approach can be transferred to other schools and perhaps to developing countries. On Alt Schools website there is a link for schools to become partner schools. As I continue to read and learn more about the school's platform and initiative, one item of caution persists and that is the authentic nature of the education. Is the goal to create a virtual learning environment - it is still not clear to me.
