"Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself.
When you become a leader, success is all about growing others."

Leadership Competencies
The common elements in the successes that I have experienced when starting or growing a program consist of what I call "Leadership Competencies". These 5 competencies include:
-
Vision: the ability to see a path forward and to be able to effectively and convincingly communicate it to other stakeholders.
-
Team Selection: the ability to see skills sets in others that are essential to the success of your program.
-
Building Trust: the ability to convince others that the path forward is worth the time and effort of the team.
-
Developing your Team: the ability to grow your team member's effective capacity.
-
Character: leading by example in a way that inspires others.
